Chase News
Cross Country Westwood High School Leek
Cross Country at Leek always a traumatic journey being the farthest away and far too many speed camera's. Luckily conditions were very good. I even had chance to sit out in the sun (although well wrapped up gloves were not needed) and take a nap waiting for the girls to arrive. Bev & Yvonne arrived with 20 mins to spare looking nervous Bev had a chance of 3rd place overall. Her hamstring injury proved too severe for the toughest course of the series. In the end had to settle for 4th place in her vet category. She come 49th in the race while Yvonne had her best race this year in 64th place. The girls run at the same time as the junior men one of which (from a rival club) was celebrating his birthday so we sang "Happy Birthday" as he ran up "Killer Hill" he abliged and raised his hands (don't know where he found the strength) in acknowledgement. What a brilliant atmosphere.
We had 6 men running which our girls cheered on enthusiastically. Kevin Loundes 66th Richard Soltysik 120th (don't think he expected "killer Hill" Dave Hetherington 150th (no sprint finish this time) Steve Bowman 169th Chris Lake 198th and Steve Burnham 211th. Well done Harriers
Ironman 70.3 Pays D' Aix France 2012
Hi Everyone, Just like to say I completed Ironman 70.3 in a respectable time of 7HRS 24 mins, It was an amazing experience from start to finish, including all the training. For those who don't know and who might want to join us for the next one, Ironman 70.3 is 1.2m swim 56m bike 13.1m run with cut offs of 1hr.10mins swim 5hr.15mins bike from start and 8hr.30mins run.
After London Marathon in April training Began with Andrew, Rob and Neil, every sat morning at Barton Marina we would do a 2k swim and sometimes bike there and back, as I've got a fear of open water swimming, to start with all i could manage was breast stroke and to be honest that was with putting on a brave face, but with lots of practice at Burntwood Leisure Center on a Friday night at our swim fit classes I mastered front crawl. Because of our busy lifestyles lot's of the training was done on our own in the week, there was no let up lot's of swimming, biking and running and we mixed in some races here and there.
And then... the run up week of the 23rd September 2012 Race Day was upon us, so much preperation had to go into getting ready for the flight with all our kit, it was stressfull!! to say the least.
